 [Faith/Order] Holy Roman Lands
« Thread Started on Feb 15, 2012, 11:02am »

I am sure there are similar decks out there, but here is a deck I have been using to great effect of late.

Holy Roman Lands

Sites (25)
- Basilica Di San Pietro x5
- Roma, Vaticano District x5
- Quiet Chapel x3
- Venetian Church x4
- Basilica Di Santa Maria Novella x5
- Cappella Sistina x3

Actions (25)
- Seeking Sanctuary x4
- Judgement Day x4
- Papal Influence x5
- Pontifical High Mass x5
- Plentiful (sic) Crap x3
- Wrath of the Righteous x4

I have totally revamped this deck. It is now more akin to a "Church Draw" deck, but heavily loaded like my original deck to stop agent heavy decks. Wrath of the Righteous and Vatican Districts are the obvious foils for agent decks.

The rest of the deck is obvious and a traditional "Church Draw" with Basilica Di Santa Maria Novella.

wow, looks like a 'can do anything' deck, do you often get mid game and find that you dont have any real playable cards without screwing over your own strategy?

It happens occaisionally, usually I either have a ton of low cost cards I get out quickly, or no low cost cards and I have to wait 2-3 turns. I almost always make sure I have at least 1 Roma District in hand (usually not a problem) or one low cost land and a Sanctuary.

My biggest problem is when I face a speedier site deck that spawns Gallows and other low cost sites. Then, if I have a poor hand, it can get ugly, but that's been rare.

The times I have lost, it's been to well-constructed decks with a lot of rare's, and the match was always down to the wire.

Just came across a deck that dismantled me. Tons of counters, copying, Ancestrals, forced discards... most infuriating deck I have ever played. Ericluah was the player.

He has another deck which I had a super infuriating game against, I scored probably 10 5 to 6 times but it all got eaten away by his multiple history glitches :)

As infuriating as it is, it's not necessary broken :) all decks have some natural predators.

The key I guess is not to try beat everyone but beat 80% of what you can and try to get better against those decks that do eat you up.

On your deck - it's not very focused, so there's a bunch of things going on there, while you really should just concentrate on a few things and make them REALLY work. I realise that you have card restrictions, so maybe look at what you need...

I have a few decks where the win cons = 5 Romulus Ruins, 5 (that media site that's 5 influence), 5 (any other 5 influence site) and stack the rest with solutions - and that does pretty well just like that. I could consistently get 2 of those sites out which would win in 2 days.

The point is to find a focus and bash it :)

Yeah, your thoughts have been at the back of my mind about this design. I've already modified the deck a bit and am testing it out. Focus is now on blocking allies and/or scoring big with sites. Removed a lot of superluous actions listed.

I have updated the deck and modified the original post. A much more focused and effective deck imho. Comments welcome.
