When Magic: The Gathering first came out, part of the idea was that when you won a game, you got to take a card of your choice from your opponent's deck. I don't think that really caught on, though. That's actually how I got some of my better cards when I used to play MTG, a long time ago. But it wasn't your choice it was at random off the top of the deck and cards where set a side. We played matches that where best of 3 games. A new card was set aside after each game. Oh yeah, maybe it was random. Sorry. Personal MtG anecdote: A friend and I attended Comicfest in Philadelphia in 1993 (maybe '94). Sandwiched among the displays was one scraggly-looking dude with long black hair sitting under a hand-drawn sign that said "Wizards of the Coast" (WotC). This dude was practically begging people to try his card game, so my friend and I took pity on him and gave it a shot. The game seemed fun, so we bought a starter deck and a few packs and enjoyed playing against each other and, later, a few friends that we talked into playing (mostly by giving them half of our cards, including some Moxen that we didn't use because we didn't play those colors). Fast forward one year, and the same friend and I attend Gencon in Milwaukee. WotC now has the third largest booth in the place, behind only TSR and Image comics. A bunch of young guys who are probably working for free (or free packs of cards) are now manning the booth, and we see people playing and trading MtG everywhere. I mean everywhere - we even saw guys sitting on the bathroom floors with their cards spread out around them. That scraggly-looking dude from Philly? We finally saw him, walking through the hallway with a trophy blonde on his arm. We were pretty sure that she probably hadn't been his girlfriend (nor would have consented to be) the previous year.

No need to apologize wasn't trying to be rude if it came off that way. I started to play when revised came out. That would have been cool to go to that convention to see it start. I was broke and lived in the middle of no where then. But it's nice to see some one else on here a least as old me. And my parents said I would have to grow up one day.

You didn't come off rude at all - I just have a habit of apologizing when I'm wrong about something.

It didn't. We sat there. He played a San Polo. I played another Roma. We sat there.
(I eventually quit.)
