(I know the meme is combo breaker, but I couldn't think of a better title). I made this deck the other day after getting my fifth exit stage right and I thought I'd steal some ideas from others and combine them. This deck is pitiful against any decent control deck, but it's a heck of a lot of fun to play.
Agents (4):
Il Carnefice x 4
Sites (8):
Pantheon x 4
San Gimignano x 4
Actions (38):
Political Patronage x 5
Plentiful Crop x 5
Calling All Stand-Ins x 3
A Call to Action x 5
Clothes Make the Man x 3
Magnetic Personality x 4
Exit Stage Right x 5
Court Order x 5
Auxiliary Ego x 3
Total memories: 50
Basically, the strategy is to do a combo win in many different fashions, and to do it quickly. If the game makes it past the fourth or fifth turn, you will probably lose. There are four ideal ways to win (one of which isn't actually a combo):
(1) San Gimignano & Pantheon: Drop a Pantheon on your Gimignano and win within two turns (misquote did this to me with a different five-income site the other day).
(2) A Call to Action (or Calling All Stand-Ins) & Exit Stage Right: Since Carnefice is the only agent in the deck, Exit Stage Right will pull him. If your opponent can block him, use magnetic personality to score.
(3) Il Carnefice & Pantheon: Strategy #2 except better, especially with a magnetic personality.
(4) San Gimignano x 4: Never hurts to draw all of them in your hand.
While you need your combos, your other cards can help you win (even if it gets to the late game) Court orders help to control the opponent, as do clothes make the man (love to play them against scholar decks). I also like to use auxiliary ego to copy the carnefice, but it can be used to copy whatever agent your opponent puts out that packs a punch.
Despite the help, you usually need to win quickly to really compete. But you can win quickly. I've actually had a turn-one win with this deck. I dropped two political patronages to play a San Gimignano before the first draw, played a pantheon and a call to action before midday, attacked in the region with the 1/1 token, and scored 10 points in the region as the second day started.
When it works, it's a blast. When it doesn't, well, at least you'll probably get your ten credits quickly. Enjoy!
