Round 2: The St4lker vs. Gamemaestro
The St4lker's deck: the Commonator
Income/Deck thin: 4 Plentiful Crop 5 Teddy 4 Heathens 5 Forced Inheritance
Counters: 5 Untimely ends
Winners: 5 Papal Influence 5 Borgia Battlements 5 Market Street 5 Borgia Barracks 5 Roman Church 2 Pompous Preacher
Gamemaestro's deck: Common Sites
Round 1: Gamemaestro started off strong, dropping a bunch of small sites to quickly rack up influence. The St4lker opened with 2 Teddy's, and a heathen, and started dropping bigger sites to take influence back. The St4lker controlled one region, Gamemeastro the other. Gamemaestro brought a field researcher into play, but St4lker stalled with his heathens, while boosting his teddy's. Things where stale mated (no one scoring in 3rd region, the St4lker had 1 influence), so St4lker dropped a papal and attacked with both teddy's, and Gamemaestro could only block one with his Field Researcher.
Round 2: The St4lker's strong sites dominated this game from early on. St4lker ignored the region gamemaestro dropped his early small sites, and put a 5 influence church in a different one, and a 3 influence order site in the 3rd. It looked like Gamemaestro had made a mistake when he dropped his own roman church in the region The St4lker wasn't scoring in, rather than slowing him down in one of the others. But in fact he was simply making that location secure (boosted to 9 influence per day), before dropping 2 papal influence to get the win. His papal arrived just in time, as The St4lker dropped his site that would have won it for him, but the papal was played first, and won
Round 3: Things looked ominous in this game when gamemaestro dropped 2 papal influence early on, and The St4lker drew 6 income in his first 8 cards (3 in opening hand). The St4lker then drew and played pompous preacher, but Gamemeastro had two blockers. Unfortunately for gamemaestro his gamble of playing an opening hand with 3 papal but no other scoring cards didn't pay off when he didn't draw a single one of the 23 sites in his deck that he needed to play with his 3rd papal, and The St4lker was able to play out his sites uncontested, before winning with his own papal.

The Final: The St4lker vs. RL
"The most amazing thing I have ever seen" -blind man who was forced to 'watch' "The intensity left me shaking" - RL's grandmother "Absolutely epic" - The St4lker's wife
The St4lker's Deck: Common Draw Income/Deck thin: 5 Young farmer 5 Plentiful Crop 5 Heathen Followers 5 Temple Ruins
Draw: 5 Salai 5 Scholars Den 5 Field Study
Winners: 5 Coastal Watchtower (not sure where else to catagorise this) 5 Papal Influence 5 Roman Church
RL Deck:
Game 1: What was immediately apparent was how similar the two players decks where, both Faith/Scholar, both using Field Study and Scholars Den. RL got an early lead with low scoring sites in two regions, The St4lker attacked both regions with his sites. The game was remarkable in that there was no attempt by either player to score in the third region (Note from The St4lker: This was deliberate on my part, once I saw RL was playing faith I knew he would have papal influence, and I couldn't afford to let him pull away in even one region. See my game 2 vs. Gamemaestro). Both players used scholars den and field influence to draw cards, and The St4lker drew one Salai after the other (RL had none), until he had all 5 in play. RL was initially able to block with his young farmers, but he only drew 2. He drew more sites however, and was the one scoring (low) in both regions with sites. RL played a papal influence to get to 10 in his second region, but while it was resolving The St4lker's Salai's managed to gain 10 in the other region, leaving the score in that region tied at 10 all. This actually happened for 3 consecutive days, where The St4lker would tie one region at 10 all, and then the other, to prevent RL from winning. In the end, with all the cards cycling through his hand, The St4lker finally drew his own papal, and was able to drop it for the win.
Game 2: This game again barely involved any play in the 3rd region. The St4lker and RL both contested two regions with sites (scholars den). RL drew 2 Petruccio Auditore, and The St4lker 2 Salai and 2 Young Farmer's. Both player where unwilling to campaign with agents, The St4lker because Petruccio Auditore could kill his Salai, and RL because The St4lker could slow down Petruccio with his young farmers, and score with his Salai. In the end, The St4lker drew better cards on the subsequent turns (he drew more cards in the match, by virtue of having Salai in addition to Scholars Den and Field Study), and was able to drop a Roman Church and a Papal influence
Game 3: (Note from The St4lker: I played this game less defensivly, allowing RL one region uncontested, while I competed for the other 2). RL quickly got one region scoring nicely with sites, and went on to control it uncontested. The St4lker had firm control of both of the other regions, again draw power was a big factor. The St4lker was closing in on a win with sites alone, when RL dropped a Papal in a region he had yet to score in. The St4lker immediately dropped a Papal in the same region. As they drew a new card RL dropped a second Papal a split second before The St4lker also dropped a 2nd papal in that region (Note from The St4lker: I drew the 2nd papal as the day turned, I can only assume RL did the same).

Congrats and thanks to all. It was a fun tournament. What's interesting is that we all ended up playing very similar decks. Mine was very similar to St4lker's although I only had 3 or 4 of some cards and was too lazy to buy them in the market so played a wider variety of cards.

I think that's in a large part due to the limited carpool, the conclusion seemed to be that the only large power cards left are sites and papal influence - and I agree with that personally

Wow I was really off when i thought I sites weren't going to be much of a use but I guess with Papal Influence being a big card, I was wrong.
I wished I played with mana first round so i would've had an idea what to expect xD
Anyway I'll post up my deck
[Crime/Media] Tournament - Common Deck (Revision 3)
Agents Paola x4 Fiora x4 Assassin Servitore x2 Rosa x2 Assassin Guerriero x3
Ardent Actor x3 Legionaire Thespian x2 Experienced City Guide Patrizio
Actions Low Profile Assassination x2 Nimble Thrust x5
Plentiful Crops x3
A Call to Action x5 Tactless Theatrics x5 For the Cause x3 Motivational Speach x5
I came in thinking most players would try to use Order so I instantly assumed Official Locks and Untimely Deaths were going to come out everywhere, so this deck was designed to stop that.
A Call to Action would've served as a way to bypass Untimely and give me income for later cards.
For the Cause would've been to knock down Winning Agents down to puny agents that could easily be destroyed with Nimble or Tactless.
After seeing everyone talk about Papal Influence and Site centric decks, I adjusted the deck a little with Paola as a means to counter Papal as soon as it gets dropped and knock down points on regions. I also added Fierce agents in the case my opponents tried to block my agents to stop me from scoring.
I had hope I could made it through but rl stopped my plans the first round and I made a fatal mistake the second round that cost me losing right off the bat.
I have the games recorded but I might not get them up till Wednesday due to work.

With commons only there is only one card that can destroy sites (other than sites battling sites) and without any counters for PI this is exactly what I expected... Agents are way more vulnerable (untimely end, etc).
Count me in on the next tournament!
