Hi,
This is a work in progress deck.
Malfatto has always been an odd card in my agenda, and I wanted to do something with it. After reading the Malfatto thread, I tried to build a deck over the Malfatto/Castle San Angelo combo.
Since this combo is slow and expensive, I focused on money, counter actions and a few draw/tutors (I consider scientific method as a tutor). It works ! Not all the times, but it's fair and fun.
The strategy consists in keeping the opponent quiet (Court order/Untimely end/Preemptive strike/Scientific espionage), using whatever agent to counter the attacks as long as Malfatto puts him back in hand. Amerigo Vespucci is nice in that regard since he can block anything, and lowers opponents influence (love him).
Then, as long as there are Castles San Angelo on the board, you block and mark, block and mark, block and mark...
The other option is to boost Amerigo (or Malfatto) with Knight Templar and attack. Simple.
There it goes
x5 Malfatto - Agent Castle San Angelo - Land Court order - Action - counter
x4 Plentiful Crop - Action - money Forced Inheritance - Action - money Untimely end - Action - counter Amerigo Vespucci - Agent Knowledge has a price - Action - money Scientific method - Action - draw/tutor
x3 Preemptive strike - Action - counter Scientific espionage - Action - counter Knight Templar - Agent
x2 Daring Experiment - Action - draw
Any suggestions ?

This deck has not many ways to win : i think it relies too much on Castle San Angelo. And Malfatto/Amerigo Vespucci is maybe a bit too much. Amerigo doesn't need Malfatto to be effective vs most of the agents (except bosses). You could try to replace it by an agent wich can score well by himself... and to eventually block with Malfatto taking care. Agostino Barbarigo ?
Btw, not fan of 4x Untimely end since it's useless vs sites decks... More Preemptive strike ?
I would also try to remove Knowledge has a price... 4 Knowledge is Power ?

Thanks for your answer. Agostino is a good idea, but he can't block officials... so in that matter I'd rather try Donatto. I totally agree for the preemptive strikes, as soon as I get them About the knowledge has a price, I put them because the combo's expensive (3 golds to retrieve an agent plus cast it again). I guess If I use more scoring agents, then I would less rely on the combo to score.... and thus need less money. I'll give it a shot ! Thanks again

since your combo is slow, knowledge has a price is just too dangerous to play. use KHAP only if you intend to win in 3 days, give or take. otherwise, you're better off with merchant ships

Instead of 2 KHAP I'd play a 5th Crop and Inheritance, first. Also, maybe Daring Experiment can be replaced by an agent (the one who draws maybe).

Alright, I'm trying it out this way then : x5 Malfatto - AgentCastle San Angelo - LandCourt order - Action - counter Plentiful Crop - Action - money Forced Inheritance - Action - money x4 Amerigo Vespucci - AgentKnowledge is power - Action - money/draw Scientific method - Action - draw/tutor x3 Preemptive strike - Action - counter Scientific espionage - Action - counter Donato Mancini - Agent (or Agostino Barbarigo ?) x2 Salai - Agent - draw Engineer's Workroom - land - tutor It's nice, but I'm not quite sure it can stand a good site deck... I guess it would work better with more of this expensive stuff 'scientific espionage' and 'Preemptive strike'... but then it would get even slower... ... my guess is that anyway, it's not stable enough.
