So far I am loving the new expansion. A ton of awesome new cards. Not sure defender is all that great though, but deceptive has promise. Being one of the people that bitched about counters I am ecstatic that it looks like the devs agreed and as joek said earlier they nerfed it by proxy.

Exactly, Altair might not be buddies with Machiavelli, but all his friends in high places love him

Counterdecks are functionally stronger now, because the way Surprises work, you can now stall out for more time to get the gold you need to activate a counter because they now work instantaneously.
Personally, Any deck that was already running 10 or more counters just gets better. Sideboard slots are cool, but at some point, you will end up sacrificing winnability against the rest of the field by shoehorning a bunch of anti-counter cards against decks that may not even be trying to counter you.

counterdeck may be the best deck in new meta, but a few anti counter cards very strong and if you miss to counter them you lose. Constantinopole very very good card. remind me we have now action that makes next memory surprise ? so there is an answers to any threat, as always. And it looks very good for the first glance

Well go ahead and counter my next card is a surprise cards. Then when my real threats come ure out of counters. Besides I can play next agent is surprise right at start of game, to use it later, when my leo's arrive Nicolo with the 11 cost cards is really neat.

Well, I think I forgot to indicate that while counters as a whole got stronger, so did options against them. This makes for a very good and balanced potential meta, although unless the card that makes your next card a Surprise cantrips (I think the gold one does.), then it's card disadvantage and deckspace that waters a lot of decks down. Still, better to have that option than *not* to have it, right?

using deckspace for a card that makes sth uncounterable is only viable when it is an instant win condition imo. i personally would take in 5 more big threats than 5 anti counter cards. just in case i dont face counters you know. sure it gets more expensive then but still overall much better IMO

I think that the anti cards are a cool lesson to all the ppl who wanted anti counter SO badly, so that they'll learn that exact lesson of anti counter cards aren't gonna solve all your problems

Well i played a deck with smoke signals and new ezio and 5 leos yesterday and some toolbox mercs.
And its not only anticounter, I can use mario/goivanni like a counter then. An surprise Leo is rly strong, not only regarding the not counter. The site that stops counter id probably not include.
