After some more testing, I think the deck has some significant disadvantages against counter decks now. With the discard bug, there is just no way to fight counter decks. This game is just too imbalances right now... I'm continually looking for options, but without discard as an outlet to counters, it just seems impossible.. Eh? What discard bug? Yes I have no idea what bug you are talking about Kwun. But I also find counters too strong now. New set overstrengthened counters by adding the 2-cost site counter card; IMHO it should have cost at least 3. It can be played too early and Constantinople Galata District can't come out fast enough. Also don't like their introducing the 2-cost counter anything with opp card draw. And Suleiman is a total killer--maybe he should only be 1/2. ...Discard has been slightly bashed by the new discard effect 11 cost cards, but other than that discard is still working, especially with a few new weapons like the mysterious stranger site Although I agree that counters rule, it's not the traditional kind of counters now I am playing the mysterious stranger site. But Discard has been HELPED MASSIVELY by fixing the papal influence bug. I've long maintained the success of Kwunyinli's deck (which I played A LOT) was in no small measure due to the papal influence bug--with it this deck completely destroyed old-style discard, with that fixed, I fear discard. I think the new meta is being defined by the strength of counter-based decks, not by Abbazia/Maria. But I have liked the decks Bronto has been throwing out there. I'd try 'em if I had enough animus credits... Most real decks cost at least 15000 now...

UPDATE: Bearer of Mixed Tidings is fun! I've also gone back to Divine Intervention since it's fast and no one really plays those 11-drops. Also, people with a hand full of counters tend to counter any discard, so it doesn't matter if it's Divine Intervention or Answered Prayers. The one gripe I have with discard is that it takes away from my business and I hate drawing it when I'm not fighting counter-decks. MAJOR ISSUES right now: Order-control (cheap counters are annoying), Site-control (control deck that I cannot interact with). Thanks for your FAITH (pun intended.. I know, I'm lame). Try Bearer of Mix Tidings. It should make the discard match up a lot easier. I haven't ran into much trouble with discard so far. Bearer of Mix Tidings tend to replenish my hand quite well.. It's another win-con and it's basically a must counter. You can also copy it which is nice. I might cut a Papal Influence for utility since I'm playing BoMT, but I'm still not willing to give up on Papal Influence yet... Yes I have no idea what bug you are talking about Kwun. Eh? What discard bug? The papal influence bug is long gone. Discard has been slightly bashed by the new discard effect 11 cost cards, but other than that discard is still working, especially with a few new weapons like the mysterious stranger site The bug to which I'm referring to right now is probably not confirmed since no one plays discard for the reason you mentioned. So far, it has happened to me without fault. Here is the scenario: My Answered Prayer resolves. I enter the carousel. While looking at cards, either their memory resolves or they drop a Surprise which resolves while I'm in their carousel. At this point, the cards in the carousel disappears and I am unable to choose a card forcing to cancel without taking a card! I'm sure you can find a good new deck to share guys! Oh don't worry! I'm not giving up. I'm just voicing out my displeasure with this game right now. The long awaited update is finally here!

Oh don't worry! I'm not giving up. I'm just voicing out my displeasure with this game right now. The long awaited update is finally here! I did give up on the deck. Basically the Suleiman/Yerebatan/Byzantine ruins decks are such a pain. The new meta as a whole is a pain. Actually I am starting to come back to Papal Influence/CMTM because it is ok against Abbazia/Maria, and if you go with Silvio (which I need to buy some of), that's good against Abbazia/Maria AND Suleiman counters. Hmm maybe PI, CMTM, Silvio, Mag personality, Tactical upheaval, Byzantine ruins, Dama Rossa, Holy Day. Thing is I just don't like anything anymore that is not a surprise LOL. But you need some counter or removal to deal with that damned Piri. Nowadays a deck has to be able to deal with 1. Abbazia/Maria: needs land removal, holy day, and/or silvio 2. Decks full of counters: need surprises or Piri 3. Piri Reis: need cheap counters and/or agent removal 4. Really fast agent decks like Nico.

Silvio being uncounterable is a confimed bug. FYI.

Yeah, they definitely need a new mechanic to stop the counter heavy environment they've provided. Right now, I'm saving up for political patronage to see how that will go. with a little speed, it might help, but the thing with that card is, it's hot when you get it early, but it's not when you get it later.. so it's hard to say.. If this fails, I might be forced to make some radical changes..

They need to provide answers to threats that can resolve. (Like sudden exhaustion for example) In a no counter enviroment schoolar is overpowered because they can outdraw, so its not that easy

Silvio being uncounterable is a confimed bug. FYI. So the Devs have said Silvio is intended to be counterable? OK good to know--not worth overpaying for him then.

(Like sudden exhaustion for example) In a no counter enviroment schoolar is overpowered because they can outdraw, so its not that easy Scholar is only a support color. It has nothing that is actually that threatening. It's also a slow color. I don't find sudden exhaustion a problem at all, unless you aren't talking about this sequence...
