If your criteria is "not being nuked by cards you don't own" then erm, please post your list of stuff you don't have and let's all have a tournament in your honor

Call it "King Altaems tournament for the unworthy". P.s. If you play the king, don't use powerful cards and under no circumstances win!

There are many cards that I do not own too, but nevertheless I would prefer an unrestricted tournament. I want to see the strong decks and not limited crap. I'm pretty sure that I created competitive decks with the cards I have.

A good way to organise something restricted is to give 3 votes to all participants. They vote for 3 cards to be banned in the forum, and the 3 cards that gets the most votes are banned. It also can give a small metagame addition.

Instead of a tournament, I think why not let us create a league of some kind, where there is a list of players. There's no need to say who's playing who when, just if two people signed up in the league is online at the same time, they can play each other, and record the scores (both players giving confirmation).
So after a while we'll see who's played the most games and least games and see if anyone needs to play someone else more and try set those up.
It's more like a ladder league or something. And there's none of that crappy obligatory logistics. Just one bunch of players enjoying the game and seeing what's what.
We can have rule sets, like what Bronto's suggested is pretty good.
I want a way to see if someone is online for real - maybe for the duration of the league, we make sure everyone who's not playing/doing anything on the channel is off the channel, so that we can tell quickly who's available to play. Or if there's an alternative log-in online now visibility system that'd be great.
What do you think?

Well what I'm saying is to make sure that people log off if they're not playing. Or at least if they're there, they're THERE. not just logged in. I think there might be a way to kick people off and if they're not online, I don't see the harm in kicking, right?

If your criteria is "not being nuked by cards you don't own" then erm, please post your list of stuff you don't have and let's all have a tournament in your honor It was only a joke. Anyone following my race with Ringel knows I've got all the cards for any practical purpose. In the interest of a fair and inclusive competition I'd like to see the 5 most expensive cards banned. Although I guess that would hurt me as much as anyone with PP being my favorite card. If our newer/poorer members are happy to compete restriction free then I'm all for it. The free form competitive game format is a good idea. I'm sure you'll all thrash me.

I'd play with or without restrictions. Now I just need to make a deck with a higher than 10% win rate...

I think Tuisms suggestion for a league instead of a ladder is excellent. Otherwise logistics would be a nightmare.
Inspired by the old Blood Bowl (3rd ed I think) rules, how about the following format:
Anybody in the league can play as many matches as they want against whoever they want in the league.
After x number of days (perhaps 2 weeks would be suitable?), any player with the top 8 number of confirmed wins AGAINST DIFFERENT opponents qualifies to a single elimination system playoff. Losses don't matter at all. Just play and win.
So perhaps the cutoff will be at 5 wins against different opponents, so anybody with 5 wins is qualified for the single elimination ladder. Or perhaps people play a lot, so you have to have 25 wins against different opponents to qualify.
No matter the format, I suggest one very important rule:
Participants must supply a decklist of 1 deck, no sideboard before playing their first game.
If a player can be proven (by screenshot?) to play cards from outside that list, the player is disqualified from the tournament.
Without such a rule in place, I suspect the tournament winner would be the guy who was best at building hate decks, not the best overall decks. Also, for me the interesting thing about a tournament would be to determine what the best decks are. Without decklists, this is much harder.

Decklist is a great idea, I've thought about that too, but how do you police quantities and bluffing unless in extreme cases... Like I list 1 Suleiman but actually pack 5? Er, ok I guess it's not hard to catch people like that using more than 1 Suleiman in a game. I suggest that we have a decklist keeper when we start, who we pm our lists to. Then when tournament starts, all the decklists become public. Then afterwards we will have a subboard up, with a thread for each player participating. When you play someone else, you go to their thread and comment the results, and go to your own thread and edit your OP to reflect the results. This way there's corroboration, and if there are disputes we can deal with it civilized. How does that sound?

I think it sounds OK.
But if decklists aren't public, I don't know if I should take a screenshot during the match. So, when I see that you were only supposed to have 1 suleiman in your deck after the tournament is over, how do I prove that you played the full 5 against me?

Also, I am not very experienced in using the iPad. Is it possible to take screenshots at all?

No no, the decklists ARE public - they are made public after the tournament starts. So: Signup starts - people submit decklists in secret to admin. Signup ends, league starts - decklists are made public by admin. You can take a screenshot by holding home button and click the power button
