 1 cost 1/1 gold herald When Templar Commander scores, get +2 Anyone found a good use for him yet? He's tutorable by Order AND Family Heirloom, he's fast, he can get you +2 many times if you play it right, and for example with merchant guild it scores like mad... But he's just too fragile to do anything real with. Unreliable. Any thoughts?

To really take advantage of his ability you need to build a dedicated deck around him and probably merchants guild as you say. And we all know how fragile dedicated combo decks are.
You could just use him instead of Den Defense and see how it goes... I certainly haven't tried it but from a card-advantage pov. he has a lot of pro's versus the regular income boosters.
Too bad he doesn't give +1 when played.

I like him by design, but early game it is just too slow to take off compared to say den defense. He could be good later on, but he is so easy to stop he rarely gets to score when I play against him.
He could be good in an agent based deck with early use of bearer of mixed tidings.

I've made 2 decks with him as my income generators. The decks are good but he is extremely slow. It takes a full day just to get 2 and it can be easily blocked to cripple your income generating.
I had honest worker in those decks too and I have to admit that honest workers are much better at income generating and whatnot. They even pay for themselves.

My league deck is built around this card. With zero wins that's not much of a recommendation.

I've used it with success in my Merchants guild deck. It has it's place I think. If you get two down early the benefit can stack up, but it's a high risk card I wouldn't use in. A competitive deck, just a fun theme deck.
