Ok, I got sucked into Shadow Era because of a (more) decent ladder, guilds, and especially the regular competitions, but I still love ACR. So what's new? Any decent competitive structure yet? Ladders, league, tournament?

Woot! Welcome back Gareth.
It's been a while. You missed quite a lot. There is a new expansion out. There has been major balance changes and they introduced a (really bad) competitive ladder.
NOOS = network out of sync errors. We see those rather often now...
Still it is a good time to come back. There isn't one single dominant strategy. People are trying to figure out what is working with the balance changes. Counters took a major nerf and are far less played now. We had a league here on the site which was good fun. There may be more. So even if Ubi's ladder is flawed we can make our own.

Ok, cool, Raphael mentioned one or two of the nerfs over at our SE IRC guild channel (IRC is something ACR desperately needs as well), and I saw my rating had reset to zero when I logged on to play again.
Nice to hear there is no one dominant strategy (although from the changes Raph mentioned I immed. got the impression sites might have got even stronger???). I must say I was immediately turned off when I tried to play my first game in a while and had to wait for ever for a game to start, and even longer for the victory to finally record and let me start another...

Site strategies are viable but not dominant. Sites where OP pre change, but now it is more balanced IMHO. I use more agents now.
There are some strategies that get quick wins out of single deceptive site (rush), but they are relatively easy to counter.
A combo of agents and sites are better.
Yes, match making sucks right now. Takes too long.

Nadcell, I was talking about shadow era irc, so unless you play shadow era, you wouldn't have seen the conversation. Actually it was a pm'd conversation, so no else one saw it. I haven't played in a bit, so we are talking about the nerf's from the latest update (or if you have started playing recently, perhaps just the cards as you know them)

The main nerfs where to the powerful sites in faith that could counter. The counter ability has been minimized or removed. Stronghold as a surprise was also OP. besides the current bug (!!!) it is not as dominant as a scoring site anymore. Smaller free sites also got more expensive such as Sofia's office making it a bit harder to rush with, say, ottoman gunman.
If you look at the league decks you see a of faith counter sites and stronghold. These are not widely used anymore (stronghold being somewhat the exemption in some reports).

I haven't seen him played in a long time. Even before he was nerfed. Now he is just MIA. Besides this, the changes are really good!

My favourite deck, which in my opinion was the only pre-expansion deck that worked post expansion (and would be even better now with the nerfs) might have just become unplayable Anyway, spent 25 minutes fighting the damn app, opening, closing, restarting ipad, to get one game. Would rather spend the time play testing decks with a guild mate on shadow era for competitive play. Until that is sorted, I'll try keep in touch with the forums, but I can't be bothered to play loads...
