Edit: This how I found better 3G signal in your home, improved my ping 200% My 3G ran out, so I won't be able to play online till I find/decide on new connectivity... I do have internet access at home, but the latency is horrible so I'm not really gonna bother with it. Pete you're the only South African here, right? Woe is me. 8ta's 10gb offer is not nearly good enough for ACR half the time. Inconsistency sucks.

I dont understand your problems. Mine works great. I live in Durban though so clear line of sight to towers etc - maybe thats it.

Also I dont know what you mean your latency at home is horrible. I have 4 meg with mweb and thats fine also. Dont download torrents if you want everything to work.

Lol I'm running 8ta's 10gb 3G offer at home, so it's not mweb or adsl. Are you talking about the 8ta 10gb thing? My ping on that thing's consistently 200+

Well, yeah ping to INTERNATIONAL destinations is going to be 200ms - this is normal. The absolute fastest it could ever be, assuming it did not go through any routers and went at the speed of light from here to international would be around 100MS, so 200 is fine. I have 8ta 10GB deal and the MWEB uncapped 4meg deal. I have tested both. Unlike everyone else, I dont download torrents so my connection never gets limited like the rest of you. Both networks shape connections.

nah the ping's to a local server - tested with speedtest.net. I don't wanna know what my ping to ubi servers are like Lol I don't download anything either hey, no torrents. Not even youtube much Well I've tried to play many times on my 8ta connection, no luck. Stutters like a vinyl record on broken playhead. Tell me (and I've researched this but with not conclusiveness), do Routers lag the connection more? (assuming nothing else is on - not my PC or PS3) Would it be better latency if I stick my 8ta in my iPad directly? (I'd have to get a simswap for a microsim first though)

8ta currently just cut the sim card smaller, so no sim swap is required, but the actual sim is cut smaller/stamped out so you cant put it back to the router.
The main issue would be the signal strength. Are you sure you mounted your router high up and in the correct direction for the tower etc? Just download nice trace for the ipad and run a scan to 208.67.222.222 and move the router around until you dont get any packet loss for a start. Once thats done recheck with speedtest. You need to ensure that your upload is not impeded since that is what will be affected first, and cause issues.

Thanks man! Very cool suggestion - i'm just not sure what you mean by ip scanning app - can you suggest which of these i'm looking for? I'm clueless with networking and tech stuff beyond installing drivers appadvice.com/appguides/show/network-diagnostics

Search for "nice trace" on your ipad.

Awesome, did that and hunted around the house. Eventually found a spot with best reception, good enough to play!!! Omg!!! Funny thing is that it's neither the highest spot here nor very far from where I had it- I literally moved it 40cm down from where it was, moved it from behind the curtains to right up against the window glass. Now I hope this will hold up well enough and not degenerate later Thanks Pete!

Sometimes the position of your furniture etc, can create pockets where the signals bounce etc nicely. Nice trace is a very useful program for ios, especially for problems like this, or if your ISP has routing issues eg, if international links have an issue it can pick it up by seeing where you begin to get lost packets etc.
It's based on the command "mtr" in Linux, but has been given a GUI.

Can I rename this thread and put it in the support area? It might help a lot of people.
