But when discussing decks, I see a lot of names thrown around that identify these decks. Are these names merely a choice made by the person who created the deck? Is there a guideline for naming decks?

It's the deck's creator's decision. No rules. If you have to, try to find something catchy, that reminds key cards of the deck, or something in relation with the theme, the color used etc.

Yeah they're pretty much random. But informed by the key cards in a deck. Pan/RI for example is Pantheon & Royal Intervention, a 2 card combo for instant win. I call my decks Victorinox and Cesare Salad cos its fun

I always try to cite my inspirations/credit people when i post my decks.
ie. idea from bronto, inspired by bronto's Nico deck, etc.
