After seeing a couple of the AI's new site rush decks, I thought why not try build one that's actually not reliant on big sites. The preface is to have 5 pontifical highmasses, which I don't (I only got 2) so... Ignoring that point... Which are the best site rush decks? Roman temple ruins, great library, gallows, any of the 1 influence 1 cost 1 income ones... I don't really like them. Quiet chapel at 2 inf for 2 cost AND 1 income seems to be the best Then the rest is a toss up - in scholar - I don't think prestigious college's 2 inf for 2 cost and no income is worth it, but then there's nothing else in that price range. At 3 you either get palazzo library which you don't lay early anyway, or converted chapel which is income rather than power. Scholars den is great at 4 gold for 2 inf and a card but no income... Slow. In faith its even worse besides Roma and quiet chapel. Everything is expensive and low influence and reliant on other cards to do anything (bascillica novella) Otherwise media has muscle but expensive, from 4 up. Pierro Rossi is fun. Seems a lot of successful site kills use order's big sites, but they're not so much rush as delaying with counters until I get big sites out. Crime's thieves guild is for a thief rush. Meh. And I only have 1. Meh. In gold there's actually coastal tower which I think is pretty good with 2 influence for 3 AND income. San grimignano is cool but kills your rush mid game. And I only have 3 Romulus is great. But what about the rusty smaller sites??? Which are your favorite site rush sites?

Hm, if you're going for Pontifical-boosted sites rather than big ones Secluded Village might be worthwhile (though no income makes me hesitate).
To help maintain card advantage you might forego all resource-booster actions. Merchant Ships and Rosa in Fiores (Bascilla feels a little slow to me) can give you the income you need while also filling a site slot to be boosted by Pontifical High Mass or Seeking Sanctuary.
I think that if you're going Red you should almost certainly include Papal Influence and Wrath (Borgia Cardinal could also be a good finisher). Green has those site-assisting agents, though in practice they seem too slow to be effective (you have to get them out and then replace sites a bunch - maybe good combo with Bascilla).

Tuism I can't believe that after all this time, we had our first matchup online! And we were both trying out a similar deck to this!! Nice close game! We almost did move for move but there were some differences thankfully! Inspired by this thread and my preference for site play, I been tweaking this sequence all night and played most of the new AI missions where it does rather well (except the one where your sites have no influence lol - also gets a bit stuck on the one where your things cost +1) so took it online and won like 6 or 7 in a row now!!

I went for a super unorthodox set actually I wanted something with a trick - did you play my scholar/media or faith/media? I think the former... Well that one was less mature or interesting. I sat with sudden exhausts and theatrics in my hand I hate that we just *have to* play defense cards simply cos we KNOW Lanz and Cesare pretty much are in 80% of the decks. I had a rant in the balancing thread. I don't have highmasses (ok 2) so I'm staying away from that setup, the Roma's = no brainer... But I digress! My media/faith set tries to use smaller sites, combined with petro Rossi - and finish with direct influence from Pietro Rossi and/or false hope + clothes make the man. I think it can work, if the meta wasn't just plain fast order counters. And im still not sure if I'm playing it right yet. Going to bed, gg man we gotta take these sites further

...did you play my scholar/media or faith/media? I think the former... Was the latter - you dropped a couple of quiet chapel as did I May have to throw some Papal Influence in instead of something, just for the ability to win 'off-day' as that wait has caught me out a few times vs AI...

Baracus sorry you had to fight that! I was just thinking, if I can't beat the trend let me just throw together a deck with these random overpowered cards and see if it just wipes everything.
So far with the exception of some site decks it's been the case. It sometimes makes me ill how easy it is to utterly overwhelm with counters + Cesare. Throw in discard and omg. And I don't even have the full complement of ancestral discoveries and preemptive strikes...

They defo need to give more viable options I know I'm not a great player so it's all a learning experience (that's what I tell myself anyway)!!

I once faced a pretty nice site deck that used Basilica di San Pietro in combo with Master Architect to create a draw engine. I've thought about working up something similar (have 7 architects, after all), but I figure there's a good reason I haven't encountered it since then.
The master builders are something I've always wanted to make use of, but the "everyone benefits" powers are a big minus and they also become targets for all the agent-based effects that go completely unused against a more pure site deck.

Yep, I love those scholar site booster agents, I used to have a site deck that ran them... They looked like Doctor House so I named the deck after him anyway when that thing got up and running (heck I really just needed master architect to survive for a day or two) I had so many cards I couldn't play them all. But since the field got smarter, there's just too many anti-agent things that he becomes a magnet for In a site deck. He'd survive in a deck with other agents, but not in a site deck. Ironic really.

I run a completely casual Engineers deck. It has slowly morphed into green and gold (it used to carry blue, but I decided to drop the counters.) It is heck of fun to play when it runs, but pretty inconsistent.
The funnest duels are site vs site, since I have to adjust for the "everyone benefits" of the powers to try and maximize my gains. That doesn't always work though.

I have 7 made up with various tweeks but this one is my favorite. acreedrecollection.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=deck&action=display&thread=330edit: No sooner than I post that i get you in a game. That was a slow hand and The deck just seems to pull out wins even on bad draws. gg rav
