I have been having fun playing the market at the auction house. I've noticed that Giovanni and Mario are on the surface the same card, yet Giovanni gets +1 gold. However, going off set prices in the market, a Mario is almost 10x the price of a Giovanni.
So is there something I am missing? Is the value of the Mario derived only from its rarity instead of its utility? Thanks.

Mostly Rarity, but it does seem like there's a lot more agent warring than sites warring. Although I tend to agree with you - Giovanni does seem like a better card. Although the situations that Mario is useful is more than Giovanni, typically.
For example if you had to kill your own to drop him, you could kill a dama rasa in an all agent deck. If you're faced with a siteless deck (happens more often than agentless decks), you got a dead card.
But I do prefer Giovanni.

ah he might have looked at the "memory search" or excel sheet off hatenintendo. there is a typo where both mario and giovanni are described as neutralizing sites. that is in fact a typo, as giovanni neutralizes an agent when he comes into play.

I think he was talking about them being the same as in they do mostly the same thing... One killed sites and one killed agents, but Giovanni gives income. I think anyway.

if that is the case, naz should realize in this meta that the ability to destroy agents is currently far more useful than being able to destroy sites. getting rid of agents with threat or passive HQ abilities (honest worker, claudia auditore, etc.) can be invaluable to the success of the game, but of course on top of that, as tuism stated agents are in far greater play than sites in this meta, so you have a much higher chance of not having any issues bringing mario into play over giovanni.

Actually Rha is correct, that is why I could not understand the price disparity when they are the same exact card, but Gio getting the +1 gold. I see that one targets agents and the other targets sites, thanks guys.

Mario is rare. Giovanni is not rare. It is harder to get Mario, that's why he is much more expensive. The very subjective comparison in power has nothing to do with their costs. :]
