Really surprised I couldn't find this deck already listed.
I can't take credit for this one. I was playing Media Art Gallery rush when Raphael Majere nuked me twice with this concept.
This is my own Templar only variant.
Core Concept: 5 x Roma, Vatican District 4 x Engineers Workroom 5 x Field Study
Income/Essential Sites: 4 x Basilica Di San Peitro 5 x Merchant Ship 5 x City Stables
The Punch: 5 x Seeking Sanctuary 5 x Pontifical High Mass 5 x Lair of Romulus
Finishing Moves: 2 x Cappella Sistina 5 x Judgement Day
How to Play: Get sites into all 3 regions ASAP. Convert/replace them all into Vatican District. If you're opponent lack counters you have now won.
This deck is insanely wealthy, usually blocks agent decks before they can win and can out fight another site deck.
Weakness: Assassin based control deck will shred this deck, also Assassin assisted rushes strike faster than the Vatican Districts can get into place.
Pre-auction house this deck was near unbeatable. Now it needs to give up it's Templar only ways if it's to become competitive again.

I remember Raph talking about it. RomaVD is a great counter to the Borgia tower and the Art Gallery. ^^

What do you do against other site decks? Especially ones that are focussed on rushing. Because I think they will easily outrun this deck...

Against other Templar Site rushes it tends to gain the upper hand through brute wealth. It's quite funny when both players drop Judgement day on the same region in the same day.
I agree it'd be useless against the new breed of rush decks that drop 5+ pts of sites into 2 regions by the second day.
I filed it under Low Budget rather than Competitive for a reason. Pre-aution house I've won near 20 consecutive games with this deck.

This deck is very similar to my own but mine has Scientific Espionage to protect Judgment Day or to protect my sites from other site destruction cards.
The problem with this deck though is when it faces Crime and they let Antonio attack just after the Roma is played and before it resolves OR if they have Giovanni Auditore or Ezio to take out the already established sites - I learned this the hard way against Bronto's thief deck. Scientific Espionage was useless in that scenario.

I've a deck similar, but with a bit different concept. I call him a "solution" deck, cos through Engineers Workroom and Quick Study I search a specific solution against the opponent deck. There are a variety of cards to neutralize the opponents decks, some like:
Roma, Vatican District (used most to delay, instead of lock) Wrath of Righteous Doomsday History Glitch Venezia Monteriggioni (the most fun against counters) etc,
I love this deck, is very funny to play and has a good win ratio, this is the deck that I play most.
My Gamecenter name is cami.alonzo (is my wife's name, I plays most in her iPad).
