I didn't see this on the bug list. It's a new one for me.
I was about 5 minutes into a match playing media/order. My opponent was playing crime/scholar. He had a Piri Reis down. Monteriggioni was not on the board.
Suddenly, everything he played was a surprise. Agents, actions. Literally everything. None of the "make your next whatever a surprise" cards were played in between. I understand how those work. He just had surprise on every single card. I did not have the same advantage.
Anybody else seen anything like this?

Did he maybe use Military Brutality to get Ezio, Mentor on the board?

Yes, the person I was playing had a red / green deck. Mostly sites, but they also had a Piri Reis out. It was their only agent played all game.
We were playing the game as normal the Piri was already out, then they played 2 cards, I think, I'm not sure what they were because I honestly wasnt paying that close attention because I thought I had the game locked. Then suddenly started instant spamming Basilica Di San Pietro for gold (2 on the same site) and draw cards then dropping instant sites to bring 2 sites to over 10 in the last half day of play before they crushed me.
At the time I thought wow there is some crazy red / green combo I missed, but couldn't figure it out. However, like I said I went from half paying attention to what the heck is happening to losing in less than half a day, so I just thought I missed something until I saw your post.

Maybe a developer playtesting some crazy new 11-cost self-discard card? ;-)

There are a lot of instant sites now, like the big 10 cost 5 influence red counter and the 5 cost 2 influence red counter, etc. he could have played his own cards, countered them and dropped the sites surprise speed.

Maybe he was just playing surprises.

I know what the surprise cards are. They would have had to play a Militia Intimidation or something to get these cards out. That isn't what happened. I don't mean a bunch of surprises came out. I mean all cards were resolving with surprise.

kyle, this is just a guess but he may have played Ezio Mentor and you just couldn't see him on your end. This has not happened to me but it's the only explanation I can think of. Did he maybe use Military Brutality to get Ezio, Mentor on the board? felix, Ezio Mentor does not need Military Brutality, he is Mr. Surprise himself.

It would help if you could tell us which cards were resolving as surprises. Like I said a likely scenario is playing cards to counter it yourself with say a Suleiman or yerebatan cistern or that big red one to get them out.

I honestly can't remember anymore. But it was 6 or 8 straight cards. The one I can remember is Ezio Assassin (that guy has a way of imprinting your memory). I just know it wasn't cards that had surprise as an ability and I looked through his cards to find out what was causing it and didn't see anything. Maybe I missed something.

Ezio Mentor was here. o/ I will keep this thread openned a few times until someone can come and confirm this. If nobody comes, I will lock it as a [not a bug].

That's gotta be it. I can't believe I missed it, but I also can't believe that such a big bug has only been noticed by me.

The guy played Ezio Assassin, confirming that he plays Crime. He your opp was playing Faith/Order, well I'd have take this report more seriously. But as it is right now, I'm 99% sure Ezio Mentor was just on the field, sneaking a region somewhere in the shadows. :]

None of this explains the person being able to instantly play 2 San Pietros over and over again in half a day, plus green draw cards, even if all the other sites were surprises.
But I have to agree since we don't have specifics it's hard to classify it as a bug.
I'll be interested to see if there is some Piri Reis exploit out there yet to be realized. It seems to be the only common thread between our games.
