So I still haven't bought any cards. My current plan is to pay for some cards after I'm sure the game will be supported at least a little longer, by seeing a game update. More money if there is an auction house, otherwise less.
(If too many people think like me, then UBI wont get enough money to want to support the game... hmmm...)
Aside from wanting to make sure the game will be around a little longer, the biggest mental obstacle to me spending money is the dual pricing of packs. For the amount I'm willing to spend (less than $50), I can either buy a handful of Assassin cards or a lot of Templar cards. Which means I gamble on a handful of Assassin cards or get none and stock up on Templar. If I make the wrong choice...
So that is just my insight into the pricing system.

In your position, I would just stick to the 300 credits per day to buy Templar cards until I got enough of them. Then, wait for some update (ideally the AH) to pay and buy only Assassin cards. If I had to restart, that's what I would do.

Yep that's about the same advice I would give. But just to me... $10 would get you enough cards to have some extra fun, deck constructing, etc... But it could also open up the itch to really want to dive into Assassin boosters But seeing as you've been pretty conscientious up to now it's alright COME O YE AUCTION HOUSE COME

I had some big luck with mixed packs. If you feel the itch of getting assassin's card, take the risk ! If you don't get the rarest in assassin you might still get some good rare and common stuff in assassin. 500 credits make that you could only buy 1 every other day but I think it's better than 1 booster every 3 days.
But if you have fun just with templar cards, stick with templar packs.
