Hey All,
Yesterday I played against a Militant Deck, and Odai was played... on the first day... before the half day mark... No PP was played, I am just confused as to how the 'unnamed person' has played this card so soon. I can't remember to well if it was the complete first card dropped or not, but either way there is no way gold boosters could be boosted to 11 so quickly.
Any thoughts on how s/he has managed to get this card out so fast... Or is it possibly a cheat?

Each colour has an 11 cost card, part of those cards ability is that when it gets discarded, it will do something instead of getting discarded. Odai's ability is coming into play. If you played odai by paying you'd get odai + two 2/2 tokens.
So either you made him discard the card, or he played The Discovery or some other card that made himself discard a card, and he discarded Odai, triggering the effect.
It's completely legit, go read the card text and you'll see.

The 11 discard cards could use better effects to make it clear what is going on to unfamiliar players.

Other than the Abbas/Maria Thorpe cycle, I think that the 11 cost cards have pretty good explanations already. Maria's explanation is clear as well, it's just the hidden nature of the Abbas/Maria combination that makes it unclear. |

Well that's all assuming you have read or can read the cards. Maria combo and incite revolt basically is invisible to the other user, while the rest really takes a noob a while to read and digest, and that's if they think to read the right cards.
I say we need better visibility on those hidden effects.

The 11 cost gold is pretty invisible too.
I think some sort of reveal when discarded cards have an effect is a good idea. Especially the ones that don't go into play.

Fair point about Incite Revolt. It's a lot easier to read when you erase two of them with your first Holy Day, but that doesn't exactly happen all the time.  |

So, this a certain effect comes into play for each 11 cost card? I assumed it was a glitch, since this never happened when I used MY Odai

Read your Odai carefully, it's all explained there and read the discovery, Nicollo Machiavelli. There are several other cards that self discard too. |

while we're at it: i don't know how abbazia di san mercuriale works. does "discard an Agent" include the opponents ? it's been a while since i met those, though. No it doesn't. It's a known combo - if you have that abbazia and a maria thorpe in hand, you can choose to discard maria, destroy highest cost site/agent of opponent's, bring back maria, and repeat. |
