I have tried a few times to make a direct damage deck with no luck. I had a fireball/lightning bolt etc MTG deck that did great. I haven't come against one yet either. So, I'm figuring there isn't enough direct damage cards. If anyone else has tried have you had any luck?

Pantheon/Royal Intervetion is a direct damage deck kinda.
So you have Papalö Influence/Royal Intervention as the only 2 DD cards atm. Art Gallery does "Direct damage" as well

I do have a pretty good Pan/RI deck. I was thinking more of a MTG fireball deck like papa influence etc but you are sort of correct.

really hard to figure what u expect. Those 2 cards is the only scoring directly from actions.

Art Gallery does "Direct damage" as well I would say Pan/RI is a combo deck. But I do agree that Papal and RI would be closest to DD. There's a site (gold) tat allows u to score <1> if you gain +1 income, I tried to make a deck out of it. Fun but not great. I had Knowledge for a price so that worked like a lightning bolt.

One difference between direct damage in Magic and here is that Lightning, Fireball, etc can take out opponents creatures when needed. But yes, I think there just isn't very much of it out there.

Such thing diesn't exist in this game as we're doing political fights, and not "death matchs" like in the classic ccg. We don't kill, we take control. Power is the political strenght. Health is the time you can resist before getting neutralised. A big fighter in this game has a capacity like Fierce, or Threat, but they won't have a big atk. You can see that Machiavelli has as much Atk as a group of Mercenaries. It's good, because it means victory is not a matter of strenght, but a matter of finesse. Sadly, from a ccg pov, it means that no such thing as direct damage cards exist. A damage (like Tacteless Theatrics... How can we damage someone like this? Because it's a matter of influence, not fight) can only affect an agent, and a score a region. I like that.

Although it all depends on what they decide to do with the cards - to put an agent's "political power" against an agent's "health" pretty much is the same concept as equating "damage" to influence. But I'm with Bronto - I like it that there's less of a "one size fits all" approach to the game - Imagine if Royal Intervention could kill agents. It'd be WAY too powerful. Imagine it could "damage" sites, too. LOL! Maybe later they'll come up with "gain influence or damage agent" cards, but it doesn't seem to fit the flavour of the game. What would it be called? Targeted Terrorism?

Their health is their resolve, so it fits with the theme.
However, it is just semantics. Direct "damage" just means direct influence or whatever you want to call it.
