So I was thinking about what would make a good prize for ACR tournament. Packs or in game credits are compelling to new players, but many of the best players will already have complete playsets. The tried and true solution to this is introducing foil cards: cards that are visually different, but functionally equivalent. So what would a foil card look like in ACR? Like everything else in the game, it would reflect leaving the static paper card world behind and take advantage of its digital environment. To me that means animation. Now this could be terribly done, but it could also be superbly done. Think less of a looping clip and more what the kids are calling cinemagraphs: cinemagraphs.com/nyc/A mostly static image with a subtle bit of keep-alive. Much like the animated paintings in the Harry Potter films brought something taditionally static alive, I think the designers could have great fun: Harbor of Theodosius: boats sway, flags flutter in the breeze Altaïr assassin looked up at you after a while Roma: clouds drift slowly by, perhaps some birds fly past in the distance Almost any agent card could have some shifting of weight in their pose, or simply blink. And as most of the artwork is based on renders from in the game, ACR is uniquely positioned to create such animated imagery. What other cards would be fun?

I would love to see something like that. Subtle cinemagraph pictures would be very interesting ultra rates that are available in packs.

Maybe it's the weekend, but I thought I'd see a lot more discussion on this. I love the idea. My only regret is that I probably couldn't get one.

Animation sounds simple, but would create a significant increase in file size for the game if they did it with a bunch of cards. Not to mention being a lot more work for the artist. Alternate pics sounds more likely to me.

Alternative pics would satisfy me. ^^ One thing I like about the cinemagraph idea is that you would not have a different card to recognize. Caesar stays caesar; he just smirks at you

Shadow era, mtg duels iPad tcgs have foils. FYI . Pretty meh about them. Unless they are exclusive to tourney winners as per op.

It would be really cool if it was exclusive as an award for a tournament or the likes. A trophy that you could actually use and show in-game What it looks like is less important IMHO.

Hopefully nothing like Shadow Era foils. They just have a moving, swirling rainbow background that makes you dizzy if you look at it for too long
