As promised, my favorite deck at the moment. It's a control-based deck where you eliminate early-game threats while building income and drawing cards only to get hit by a surprise Doomsday... Oh wait, that's not what I was trying to say... I mean, to take control of the game before your opponent manages to score 10 in 2 regions.
The deck is vulnerable to fast rush decks (usually in combination with a bad opening hand) and cards like Doomsday as there are no real counters in the deck. Just make sure you use your Answered Prayers to eliminate those threats early game.
I have a very high win-rate with the deck and do manage to beat Deceptive Rushes, Forgotten Temple, Femme Fatale, etc. on a regular basis.
So here it goes:
/* Income / Defense */
5 Paola 5 Discreet Calling 5 Forced Charity 5 Funeral Pyre
/* Discard / Income */
5 Holy Day 4 Answered Prayers 4 Ritual Sacrifice
/* The killers */
2 Mario Auditore 2 Giovanni Auditore 3 Ezio Auditore, Assassin 3 Maria Thorpe 4 Assassin Stronghold
/* The Prestige */
3 Ezio Auditore, Mentor
The way the deck plays is as follows: 1) Build income and take a sneak-peak at your opponent's hand 2) Continue to build income, draw cards, and discard/take your opponents immediate threats (often small stuff, you can deal with the big stuff later) 3) Tutor for Mario/Giovanni to keep your opponent at bay, reduce his score with Paola where necessary 4) Play Ezio Mentor and take full control!

Oh look, all agent/site removal with the added bonus of card theft! Just kidding - deck looks pretty powerful. Out of curiosity, how do you deal with deceptive rush and Femme Fatale?

I played with your deck today. It is really fun - and good!
The discard with answered prayer and ritual sacrifice is really effective. Especially as you see their hand and get income doing so.
Paola is great. It deserves being used in none courtesan decks. She has saved my butt in many games. Also good vs deceptive cheese.
So well done. Only suggestion is to add one more ritual sacrifice in exchange for a holy day. I find that card much more useful. Also I took out one stronghold for an Ezio assassin. I like the diversity in him better as later game I think you have agents under control but sites may be a problem. Small change related to preferences and play style.
Btw, this is the first time I actually copied a deck and tested it. It was fun.

I won against some cheese today but also lost to some.
DavidOrf played a deceptive rush two times. He Folded immediately first game... Second game PP -> 2/2 deceptive agent. 2x 2/0 boosters and I didn't draw agent removal. Lost to Manos' Malfatto cheese deck too. But it was more bad luck than anything. Won against XXX who decided to pull a fast one on me with a self discard deceptive site deck. First draw holy day screwed that over - 2 vaults gone and he had self discards in hand and deceptive 1/1 site. Discard and stealing his cards sealed the deal. Very sure victory there. Felt good dissecting some cheese. This one is a contester for the lamoid report.
Other than that the deck worked very well most games.
So meet a lot of lamoids decks today, but your deck stood its ground.

Yeah, as I said in the FT threat this deck is all close to cheesy as well (due to all the agent and site killers). I usually win when my opponent has nothing left on the board...
And yes, Paola, Answered Prayers and Ritual Sacrifice are great to handle deceptive rushes. Yes keep them from scoring big (answered prayers on their magnetic personality works great), and you'll be able to take over later in the game.
For Femme fatale you need to perfectly time Mario, Maria and Ezio. If you have Ezio Mentor out it becomes a lot easier.
But hey, I got crushed by ordinary Offical rushes as well. Usually due to a poor initial hand (i.e. mostly 10+ cards) or a failed deployment of Giovanni (i.e. the site still scores).
EDIT: good suggestions btw. but since AS can't be tutored I included 4 to make sure I do draw it at some time, and I think I really need the early income of Holy day (and the sneak peak at my opponents hand).

Lurixfab you could have just said my name I don't care. I am finally back to playing since connections seem better now. I almost quit after the Holy Day but I had enough draw and other cards to win in that deck I stuck around. I quit after the immediate back to back Ritual Sacrifice, well played. I am getting really tired of playing against the steal cards though, they're fun to play but sucks to be on the receiving end.
This deck reminds me of an updated version of what a lot of us played in the league, after getting owned by this I will have to try it.

The Ezio instant-speed killer decks were my favourite before the new balances And now, well, I just find them to be a bit too slow. But you feel like a bit of a god when you do pull it off My favourite was pulling off the endless bascilica combo with Ezio Mentor Sometimes my opponent would play a Master Engineer and I'd laugh and draw my entire deck. For fun

Iron, ok. Welcome back to the game! I'll give people the choice to name themselves if I do the lamoid report. But won't in this case after all. Too short and I did a report vs the discard deceptive site rush. I was surprised to see you play that deck.
Maybe this deck is cheese, but haven't played against it so hard to tell. So a light Gouda cheese perhaps? Nothing like the Rocheforte (spelling) cheese that really smell bad (in my book) like surprise doomsday and then FT or courtesans or deceptive rush or Piri counter combo.
In my main deck I now have 4x scientific espionage. I find them really useful in many games. Like when you meet a ritual sacrifice.
EDIT: added courtesan decks. These are the worst. Was reminded about how boring it is to play vs them today.

Tu, if you like that combo you should try my main deck with Ezio and Gaspar. It explodes when you have that combo. I'll post it... One of these days.

yeah the problem with those is that I prefer the faith over the scholar, for a variety of reasons including bascilica and funeral pyre, and the surprise site... Can't remember much more. But yeah I know you can draw a million cards with those combos

Was reminded about how boring it is to play vs them today. I'd separate surprise Doomsday from FT and just consider them their own cheesy categories. Having been on both ends of it, surprise Doomsday sucks no matter what deck the Doomsday player is using with it. That, and I've seen other FT decks that go about things differently than I do with mine. Perhaps consider Doomsday/FT decks extra cheese? (On a personal note, I don't need to fire off Doomsday to make my FT deck work - it's just a nice bonus.) Oh, and the actual reason I made this post: lurifax, feel free to name me if you happen to come up against me and have things to want to say about the game. My feelings won't be hurt, even if the things you have to say aren't positive. That goes for anyone, btw.
