I put this card first in my "I Don't Care"-deck (Juno), and I was really surprised about how well this card works. It gives a big gold boost. I don't care what other people play, I am just rushing for 30+ gold and 2 Tax Collector's Offices in this deck speed things up a lot. I played against another Juno deck the other day, and won by far, picking out my Tax Collector's Offices with my Quick studies. You can really rush for gold with this card. So now I've started working on my "Spanish Merchant"-deck and I noticed it works perfect in conjunction with Merchant Guild and The Spaniard. I can also see this work well with cards like Calling all stand-ins and the dreaded Pan/RI combo. Anyway, just wanted to mention this underrated card It deserves some more attention, imho. ps. Tips and thoughts please...

Hmm, interesting thoughts, and yes it would be quite something with a merch guild. Blue sites are REALLY quite powerful, simple, big. Comes with counters. Hm... AND finding use for The Spaniard? Man after my own heart In a totally kosher way. I love trying different strats Given the nerf that's coming up to a lot of key cards the game will become slower, giving way to a LOT of the previously underrated cards - that means a mid-game boost might just KILL the competition by gatewaying to bigger cards, like you said. Naturally I would try this with Scholar card drawing, but try something different too Good one!

I tried both Spaniard and Tax Collectors in my early merchant decks, but could really get them to work well. If you can find the right mix, I would love to hear of it.

I think the new cost structure on X spells will give a lot more credence to econ boosters, and tax collector's office is also 2 influence. Current structure, neat but late. New structure, much more interesting.

I also can't get my Spaniard, Merchant Guild deck to be fast enough. Every time I play it, it was just a bit too slow. I actually gave up on the concept for now rav950: In a lot of decks it might be slow, but in decks that depend on gold boosters, it's really added value. It will definitely stay in my Juno deck.
