Hurdler posted that the AH would take at least 2 months, and that post was in January, not December.

How come we were told the AH would come in two months at the same time we were told a iphone/touch game was way way off (about 3 months ago) whereas now we are being told the iphone/touch game will be released before the AH, which is again in another 2 months. Please, re-read the original post about it: acreedrecollection.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=bugs&thread=299&page=1It was only one month ago, and we said at least two monthes. We say now April (and we haven't said end of April, BTW ). We haven't said the iPhone version was way way off. It was already work in progress, it's just that gameplay part of the port was not advanced enough to talk about it. Now, we are confident about the result since we are able to play the game in quite good conditions. And if you re-read my message, I think it was clear enough it would come before he AH. The only think I might have talked a little to early is about the matchmaking. As you can see by yourself, the online community is not big enough to justify it yet. Sometimes the delay to get matched is already big, so having a beter matchmaking system now wouldn't help much for now and that's why the focus was more on attracting new players by supporting the iPhone/iPod.

I've spoken to Marc about the match-making.
It's also an egg-and-chicken issue. People will play and recommend the game to their friends if the game is good. If the match-making is not up to par - it will affect the gaming experience. "On-par" becomes a relative term - Shadow Era has an excellent in-game matching and people will compare. (ACR is a far more fun game for me, although I play both.)
I do agree that porting the game to iphone/ipod is the no. 1 priority.

Yeah, I agree. SE became popular because of iPhone/iPad. Still 50% of the userbase is iOS I think.

On that same base of bringing the game to multiple platforms, wouldn't it make sense to bring it to android devices too? Adroid Tablets are huge in the market right now, especially among geeks which fit the target perfectly.
Are there resource issues in that you guys will need entirely new teams to do that or performance issues that talks to the difficulty of maintaining quality experience among different android devices?

To add, porting to iphone/ipod/Android = more funds for great future developments for ACR. If a game can't make money, the development will cease or will be very slow. I think as gamers, we also need to appreciate the fact that devs also need to eat and not expect to be treated like Gods, LOL.

+1 to the last 4 posts , I also think a ranking system would be useful in maintaining the current player base?

Android is still an option, but again, it's all about ROI. The iPhone port was easier to do due to the fact it's the same technology as the iPad. The Android port will require bigger changes (and you'll have to convince some people the user base is big enough at this time compared to the required work). I don't think there would be performance issues. Lot's of Android phones are better than the iPod 4th generation (and the game runs ok on that device), and same thing for the tablets (if you exclude low cost ones). Also, we still want to do the PC port, once the AH is there. And the work required for the PC version would help a lot for a potential Android port. I personnaly have an Android phone and tablet so you can imagine I would like that port as much as you do

This is true. Hopefully going FREE has helped in getting more people on board. I feel the game should have been free from the beginning to insure this. The bulk of the money was always gonna be made from IAP anyways. Edit: Actually I just looked at the stats and the game is now 20th in the US store in games and 39th overall. Which is pretty good IMO, so it definitely paid off. It was out of the top 500 in games before that.

well i think now is a GREAT time for it to become free - remember the popularity trigger is not having it free permanently - it's the going from costing something to nothing. Anyway kudos to the guys for putting some marketing out, I hope there's plan for more
