So in an effort to enjoy myself more and hopefully teach the influx of new players (noobs, as a term of endearment not offense), I'm now playing what I call 5R/fiver decks, where the point is that you only have 5 rares in. I think this is an excellent format to both enjoy oneself and not be completely bored. To start I present my Faux Nico deck 5 plentiful crops 5 political patronage (my 5 rares) 5 sudden exhaustion 5 americo Vespucci 5 magnetic personality 5 legionnaire thespian 5 5 Francesco vecello 5 nicollo Copernicus 5 Romulus lair 5 ospedale degli innocenti Concentrating on gaining agent superiority while winning with the big sites. We experienced players have the advantage of knowing that it's all Templar out there, but trust me, it's really not so easy to win, playing this format is really fun and challenging I hope more ppl take this up and play with what new players can learn from instead of being crushe in a couple turns

Thanks, might build something like this once the AH kicks in , otherwise I dont see 5X political patronage as low budget if you have to buy maybe a couple hundred assassins boosters to get 5.

Yeah, I guess that's true unless you're lucky. The 5R thing is more to make decks that can work for experienced players that won't totally destroy new players but still have some fun

You know, that looks fun and well made, but I can't help but think of two things:
It does not look like a rush deck, so, even the 5 rares that you DO have could be taken out. Put in an Honest Worker. Re-usable PP twice a day. Easy to kill but can also block or round out a region as well.
Also, you've already got Amerigo and Sudden Exhaustion. Throw in an Evasive Maneuvers set and you could have a 5/5 agent with Cunning and Recover.
Just a thought for anyone planning to poke about with it. Not trying to be a critic or anything, heh. It obviously has lots of potential if it inspires me to try and think stuff up about it. So yeah, very cool deck Tuism.

Solid ideas! Don't take any decks posted as final and the best thing ever, I certainly think the deck could use improvement. Most of the time after posting a deck I get distracted and am working on some other deck though so I seldom go back to tweak them The pp is the income kicker to get an early influencer out, which is necessary in a strategy like this cos organic growth means matching with your opponent play by play on an income basis. Why don't you give it a try and run it and lemme know how it goes?

I don't think your 5r decks are really fair as long as we don't have an auction house. Starters will hardly ever have five of the same rare. So even though I admire your nobility, I don't see these decks as starter decks.
5r decks, highlander-style (1 or maybe two of any particular rare) would be far more accessible.

I can't try it as suggested, sadly, my 5th PP is a few paychecks down the road or an AH bid away.

No I don't think that they're "fair", but like i said it's a nice medium between every 2nd card is a rAre which is how we build decks normally according to utility and not rarity, and trying to tell everyone to play the first sequence or all Templar or all commons to give new players a chance and boring both the new and the experienced players to death cos it's all the same thing.
It's also exposing new cards and new strategies to new players, and if they have any sense, they will pick up that 5R decks are full of uncommons and not just rares and hopefully realize that it's not all about the rare stuff.
