I'd like to appeal to the devs on the current discard paradigm, please say aye if you agree, or give some input too
My proposal, put simply:
1) New draws are not added to the carousel.
2) Cards can be played from hand, but still remain in the carousel.
3) Discarding those cards that has been played already results in a "counter" but the gold and whatever associated cost is given back. Replaced agent, gold cost, possible sacrifice, etc.
OR
Change the discard/steal mechanism so that if there is only one card in hand at the time of resolution, that card is selected automatically
OR
Keep everything real time as it is, but make the carousel faster. Double tap, or drag and drop, or a complete revamp, for discard to be equal speed to playing a card.
----------------------------------
To expand, there are several flaws to this current discard paradigm:
1) if a player can play his card out of his hand to update my discard choices, the same should happen for a draw. It is only logical (but undesirable for me as I still think it is unfair)
2) while I don't like the idea of someone mistiming their discard to wait for a draw described above, it seems to be the only way of reliably discarding with a selection card (ritual sacrifice, answered prayer) with the current mechanic is to allow that.
3) Discarding/stealing a played card should return gold to the originating player.
4) the discard interface (the carousel) is not on an equal footing in the real-time battle to rush to select a card. A) there is lag b) selecting a card & hitting confirm is slower than drag and drop. A better way of dealing with this should happen. I propose that if the opponent has exactly one card in hand, the choice should be automatic - automatic steal, discard, etc. the same of Machiavelli's discard, or any other carousel selection card.
5) otherwise a faster, more reliable way of selection is needed - drag and drop or double tap.
I've stopped playing discard cos ritual sacrifice and answered prayer feels like I've played a court order for a random card in my opponent's deck and then have to throw a dice to see whether it will resolve or if it will counter itself. It's too random and makes it seem like if I play it I'm hoping that my opponent is a noob.
In all, I just feel its an unfair disadvantage that's a system logic error that feels more like bugs rather than a "let's make these cards less powerful" nerf.
I know some people think discard is overpowered and this change was right, but I think people playing discard themselves will be able to tell that while strong, it's not the answer to everything and certainly doesn't have answers to everything.
