Hi , I think he is intended to be paired up with Rodrigo Borgia ( regain gold twice as fast ) negating the penalty. But seeing as Rodrigo is not that popular , Juan is kind of useless, so far!

Usually you will gain your full income in gold in a full day. With. Juan Borgia in play the speed you gain gold is halved. So you'll only gain half of your income in a full day.

If anyone would actually play with him in multiple copies we'll know, for now, I have no idea

He is 5/4 for 5, which makes him almost as good as Ezio, right? RIGHT? Maybe next set will include a goblin grenade style card?

So what could we do with him? He'd be a good finisher for a discard deck, but I'm attempting one with him as crucial. Maybe Papal Bull his abilities away? (But recover is lost...). He could be used in a small site rush deck.

I like the way you think but I really can't find a use for him - if you can stand the gold recovery rate halving, you probably have either lots of income or all your cards cost 1 or 2. In case 1 I'd rather play any other more expensive agents like even Rodrigo. Silvio is perfect. Recover? Pfffft. Try always safe. Almost always better. For only 2 extra gold it's really good. In case 2 your deck isn't built well enough At least that's the theory in my head. Other than giving it to my opponent I dunno what I'd wanna do with mr Juan if you playtest anything with success please let us know

I don't think Juan should be changed though. Every game can use some bad cards, plus he is a puzzle to figure out. Imagine how proud someone will be to make him useful.

No I don't think he needs changing its a super "fun" card and very special, which is awesome

And he's ugly. I mean... Come on! Look at him!

I think I mentioned somewhere else, at least you see him clothed here. It certainly makes the man. In the brotherhood game you assassinate the guy naked cos he's at a orgy party.
Yeah.

... (cricket cricket) Ahem. I have news. I haven't noticed the half-gold rate stacking. Also, Pilfer Supplies works well with Juan. I have a halfway viable deck which might actually be good if somebody offered me their extra PP at auction time... But seriously. I need those. What I have now is a media counter deck that kills agents and sites while building income. Then I toss out a couple Juans and watch the sparks. I copy the Juans and papal influence for the win.

I'm trying to see how this works though? If your rocking media/faith , nico is 4/4 fierce for less cost and less penalty imo.
