Static IP for IPhone/IPad:
- Configuration->Wifi-Settings
- Click on the small blue arrow at the right of your Wifi network
- Click on "Static" and enter the IP adress, subnet mask and router gateway
Setting up a DMZ:
It depends on your router. You should find an option called "DMZ" or "DMZ-Host" in the security or firewall configuration menus. There you just add the IP which you gave to your device before.

The IP address you enter in step 3 - is it anything you'd like or...? Where do you find that?
I use a dial up 3G modem to connect, does that mean I have to re-setup my static IP every time I disconnect and connect again?
Sorry, total networking noob here. I'm the same with a TV... I think we need to write a total noob step by step and see if it can help some people.

Hey demkon, thx a lot! As soon as I'm back home I'll try just that.

How do you share the Internet connection with your iPad tu, these instructions are if you have a router. Not for a dial up, since then the computer dialling up is running in DMZ mode, and is probably why you have issues.

What I mean is the pc dialling up will have a live ip, before anyone "corrects" what I said. Ie it's essentially already in DMZ mode (the pc not the iPad).

I connect with a wifi router - the router connects directly to the 3G modem dongle. So it doesn't require the PC to be on. Does that answer your question?

If you click on the blue arrow (step 2) you are in the DHCP tab, could you please write me values you see there? I'll suggest you an IP then. You won't have to re-setup your static IP every time. Your router gets its own dynamic public IP every time you dial-up, which he will automatically forward to your configured IPad IP.
