I can only play about five games every two hours because of these messages. I get unable to connect to opponent sometimes for an hour in a row. This has to be fixed.

I know what you mean... have you tried completely shutting down ACR, then opening it again and connecting? It sometimes works for me, but it's not a guarantee.

Sorry to say this, but I think it's largely due to some kind of unique circumstance between two players. So like, your Internet service provider, or your connection, has to do with it. Myself I seldom have trouble these days, and I play on 3G.
Check your connection out, try another connection. It may solve your issues.
If there's something wrong server side, they should definitely look into it too.

I think it is a router port configuration issue. At home I don't get the error message very often. Tried it at work (restricted firewall) and only 20% of the games happen. The same happened to me on a train ride.
Anyone know which ports need to be open - or if this is even the case?

Yes the ports were posted a while back, but it should be fine on normal Nat. Confirmed there are problems on double matted clients though.

I get disconnected if I get switched from wifi to 3G, and if I try to start a game while using 3G I get a message stating that I can't be on 3G and play multiplayer.

iPad works on 3G, not phone. That's why.

I get this message very often too and I must say it is highly frustrating! Actually this issue makes the difference between a really great game (which it normally is!) and just a waste of time for me.
Sometimes I also get the message "Defeat - Your connection was interrupted" directly after loading the selected sequence.
I even seriously think about quitting the game, because these things annoy me so much.
If there is a client side solution (I play on Wifi with a good connection), I would appreciate any hints (e.g. open ports in the router etc.).
If this is a server side issue then please fix it asap and with the highest priority. Because I think this error drives most people away from the game (If I were new to this game, I wouldn't invest a single dollar in a game, that I can't even play regularly).

+1 demkon I'm not sure what causes the error but I, too, can only connect to an opponent 1 out of 5 times. Very frustrating. At home I play on a stable Wifi connection (new iPad). So there shouldn't be a client side problem, besides maybe the open ports issue. Can anyone repeat what ports should be open and maybe explain how to manage this in the iPad settings?

I have several degrees and one is in IT, I do not have technical issues. My router is a wireless N and I have it password protected obviously, but it never is an issue with any other game or activity. As for my connection I have a high speed cable modem, it's not an issue. It is clearly the game and it needs fixed.

Lol, ruggeder, now THAT was a clear statement. Glad to hear that it's not (solely) my own dumbness.

Some may be opponent but if 4/5 can't connect there is some problem on your side. I've had connecting problems in games. Had to port forward before it worked. Pain in the Assimov.
