I keep seeing the same simple mistakes being made during a match and it really bothers me that they keep getting made over and over.
I hope the following will help people play a better match - deck building is only half the game!
1) Don't attack with an agent after it's been "marked for death" by an action or agent launch!
People tend to panic when they see their agent get an action thrown on it. Because everything takes half a day to resolve, no matter what you do after the agent's been targeted, it WILL NOT score before the effect lands. So the best thin you can do with a marked agent is to wait for an attack and block it.
Unless of course if your agent won't be killed by the targeting action.
2) Don't block an agent with threat...
with a non threat or cunning agent unless you're expecting your agent to die, and your opponent's agent to live. Might sound obvious, but I've seen (many) people block a threat agent with a pikemen and then throwing militia trainings on it. It makes me sad to see that
3) Don't play a big site too early!
Playing a big site anytime before the timer is somewhere just before the right side of the screen means your opponent has all the time in the world to play his mob justice and take it out before it scores. Unless you wanna play 2 in a day on the same region - then you have to play the first before midday.
4) Don't use your surprise buffs just as your agent starts attacking!
Militia training especially, or magnetic personality, among others. If you're going to use it, use it when an agent is at least 2/3 done resolving their attack. Or your opponent has enough time to easily respond with their own surprise like sudden exhaustion.
5) if you're going to play a wipe that will take out your own agents...
Try play it AFTER you launch an attack with your own. Cos everything takes half day to resolve, your agents will score of unblocked before being wiped along with your opponent's
6) Conversely, if you're going to try killing your opponent's agents with an action,
Don't wait till AFTER they launch ab attack - cos then they'll score first. Unless you're waiting for another agent to be dropped and you can afford the damage.
7) Generally, you can do an action, THEN block an attacker, and the action will resolve before the block resolves.
8) In general, you can't react to an action with an action cos yours WILL resolve after theirs. Only surprised outrun actions. And surprises don't outrun surprises - so don't even bother.
9) Don't forget to attack with your agents.
Unless of course the situation is unfavorable. But don't forget to. Unless they're zero powered.
Ok the above are just some of the common mistakes, even i make them from time to time still
It's certainly not exhaustive, so please discuss and add to the list if you think of anything
